Here’s a post that got lost when I moved my website. Waiting on Maidenhead Station I saw this wall. It made me think about 5-time and how, if you want to split the bar into two, you have to play on 1 and the + of 3. That doesn’t seem to be half-way through the bar. This wall demonstrates that perfectly. The 6 horizontals represent beats 1-5 of the first bar, and beat 1 of the next bar. The confusion comes because beat 1 comes at the start of the beat, and would be better called beat 0.
The panel next to it shows the same thing for 7-time.
